I have shared with you before my 3 failed attempts to find the right
cataract surgeon -- all 3 were rude, impatient and unattentive to my
concerns and wishes.  I also told you that I finally found the one who
was kind and cooperative, and my cataract surgery was finally
performed successfuly 3 days ago.

I am not the only one who have experienced difficulties in
communicating with eye doctors.  When I went to see the 4th cat
surgeon I decided to be totally prepared and avoid any duplication of
my previous failed experiences.  After research and great help from
participants on S.M.V. I came equiped with written material that I
handed to the doc, including concise history of my eye problems and
previous surgeries, OCTs from before and after surgeries, official
records of the procedures done and a "wish list".

It worked, as the doctor got all the information I wanted him to have
without taking much of his time.  He expressed his appreciation of the
material I provided and agreed with my Wish List.  I believe that my
List may be helpful to others who are in a similar situation, with
adjustments according to each individual case, therefore I will share
it with you with the hope that somebody will find it valuable.

My Wish List:

·    Choosing a procedure with the least risk and least possible
complications.

·    At this stage operate on the right eye only, with a plan for
possible future left eye cataract surgery when becomes necessary.

·    Topical anesthesia with sedation, small incision, no stitches.

·    Monofocal (no accommodation) IOL for intermediate vision (probably
aiming at -2D ? ),  to be corrected with glasses (probably
progressive) for reading and distance.

·    Astigmatism to be corrected by glasses, not limbal surgery.

I got it all.  He did exactly what I wanted and I am delighted!
