Dear Mister Stick,
Could be both?

Did you return to the doctor and have an assessment while wearing the
lenses? Did you mention the blur in the right? Are you of bifocal
age and the doctor was providing monovision wherein one eye sees well
at far and the other see well at near?
Usually a contact lens fitting includes over refraction of the lens
while on the eye and at least one follow up assessment before final
contact lens prescription. It can take a few trials to find the right
lens, a lens that fits well, is comfortable and provides good vision.

or perhaps the contact did not fit properly. or perhaps you have some
uncorrected astigmatism and will require a toric lens.

your observation suggests that -7.50 is too strong for your right eye
but works fine for your left eye. this implies the prescription is
different between your two eyes-- a common situation.

No. this is a simplistic statement and the situation varies
considerably from person to person.

No. it depends entirely on your prescription.

you should be trying to let your optometrist know about your
difficulties and let them help you choose the best lenses. that's
their job and they know way more about it than you give them credit
for. Entitling this thread "stupid eye doctor, wrong prescription" is
inappropriate

this is exactly the problem! you, and your friend, do not know much
about contact lenses. see your eye doctor and explain your
observations.

Before people call an OD stupid for a bad refraction, they should realize
that the RX is based on the patient's ability to say which is better and
when it looks the same. The OD already knows aproximately what the eye needs
to make a correct refraction mechanically, the fine tuning for patient
comfort is based soley on the patient's ability to be honest and forthcoming
in answering the simple three choice questions. Contaccts add a few new
questions, but the visual comfort issues are still in the patient's arena.
Make sure you are not expecting something that is impossible.

It sounds like you were fit for monovision. It delivers one focused for
distance and one eye for close work. It gets alot of people to 20/happy for
both. Discuss other options with your doc if this isn't working.
