Purevision Toric in + Powers

I have been wearing Proclear lenses, toric in my left eye and standard
in my right. My prescription is R +2.25 8.6 14.2   L +2.50 0.75 180 14.2

Having read so much about Purevision lenses I wanted to try them - but
in the UK the torics are not available in + powers, so I couldn't ask
my optician to let me try them.

I took the liberty of ordering them from the US since the parameters
were so similar to the Proclear lenses I had been fitted with (the
Purevisions have a base curve of 8.6/8.7 and the Proclears are 8.6). I
know it's risky and I shouldn't be ordering lenses which haven't been
fitted by an optician . . . but they are absolutely wonderful. Very
comfortable and my vision is nice and clear. The toric lens positions
itself perfectly (as far as I can tell, and I am very aware of a lens
which sits incorrectly). It rapidly rotates to the correct position and
stays there.

I am not going to wear the lenses for extended periods, just during the
day and am using Focus Aqua to clean/disinfect them.

Two questions. Firstly does anyone know when the + powers will be
available in the UK? Secondly, should I be unduly concerned that the
lenses have not been fitted by a professional? I am more than happy to
see an optician when the lenses become available here - not sure how an
eye-care professional would react to me asking for support with lenses
I had sourced from abroad.

Ask your eye care practitioner and if he/she doesn't know, email B&L :

I'd think "shortly" will be the answer!

Clearly, if the lenses rotate to the correct position and stay there,
you'll know ;-).  You may want to simply ask your contact lens person to
check the fit and power. I can't imagine why he/she would object.
Purevision plus toric lenses often require a little power and axis
adjustment to get the very best vision, relative to the other lens
powers.

Certainly if you are going to wear them overnight, you must be examined
to make sure the lens is performing and your eyes remain healthy using
the lenses in that manner.

Many thanks indeed, LarryDoc. I will heed your excellent advice!
