At the weekend I picked up glasses with a new prescription, not much
different to my old one they said.  Because of the activities in my calendar
for the last couple of days I've been wearing these more than I generally did
the last pair, now when I take them off it seems as though they've been
bringing my eyes together. I say that because without them it feels like my
eyes aren't together!

Here is my new prescription
-2.50
-2.75 -0.25 145

And my old one was
-2.25
-2.50

Is this my imagination or are these new glasses, which are great and I love
the way they make me see, really doing something unexpected?

You might want someone to check your far P.D. (pupillary distance)
against the O.C.D. (optical centers distance) of the glasses.  If they
are more than a mm or 2 different, that could be the problem, because of
unwanted prism that can cause that kind of symptom.
