My wife and I have two eyes, but we only use one. I know that my bad
eye could be used with correction, and I might even be able to drive
just using it. My wife has amblyopia, and she has been told that she
could probably learn to use the bad eye if she lost the good one.
It's really not that bad having only one eye, but of course you don't
have a backup. I don't see the need of a support group. My wife and I
aren't going to be world famous ball players, but we do just fine.

The term used for seeing with one eye is monocular visual impairment.
I don't agree with Dan that a forum is not needed. The forum I read
is at http://www.losteye.com/
The URL direct to the forum is:

The support group is useful for people newly undergoing enucleation
and also for those of us having further surgery and also for
discussing problems with implants and prostheses. Some also need to
share their feelings about facial disfigurement and the resultant lack
of confidence.

Thanks for posting this. Is it a forum or a support group?

It's a supportive forum.. I don't know the difference.

Don't know of any support groups for monocular people; there are
support groups for many eye diseases so they would likely be able to
find a group for whatever disease caused the loss of vision in the bad
eye.
Anybody know the medical name fpr this affliction? TIA
No real medical name as there are many different disorders that can
cause loss of vision in one eye. The simple term would be "monocular
patient".
