The link below is for the definity web site.
http://ecp.definity.com/main.htm
The site makes the following claims:
a.. DEFINITYT Lenses provide patients with the widest intermediate zone and
least amount of peripheral distortion of any progressive lens.
a.. DEFINITYT Lenses provide a much wider intermediate zone than
Conventional Progressive lenses.
b.. DEFINITYT Lenses have significantly less peripheral distortion than
Conventional Progressive lenses.
Unfortunately, it doesn't define "conventional progressive lenses". How do
these compare to Hoya, Zeiss,etc?

This is an old thread that I now just saw and my reply is probably too
late to be of use to you. I investigated the various progressives 2
years ago and settled on the Definity. I work extensively at the
computer and the Definity has a very broad intermediate zone that makes
computer work comfortable. (I previsiouly had Essilor Naturals which
were not as comfortable for computer work.) I am also fairly amazed at
the width of the channel of sharp vision. I often don't even realize
that I am wearing progrssives. I highly recommend the Definity, though
they must be fitted very, very carefully. The first pair had to be sent
back because they were miscentered. Unfortunately, Definity has been
sole by Johnson and Johnson and I believe purchased by Essilor. The J&J
Definity lenses were only ground in their shop in, I believe, Virginia.
I don't know if Essilor still manufacturues the lenses in that
specialized facility or not. If they have farmed out the grinding to
local labs that grind the other Essilor lenses, I would be skeptical
that they are still as skillfully made, but hopefully I am wrong on that
concern.
