Hello,
Mom has redness in her right eye and a thin white line in the pupil in
her eye.
She had something similar 3 years ago and was prescribed tobradex, but
this drug caused  a few side effects.

The eye feels irritated and is sensitive to heat, but not brightness.

Are there any alternatives to tobradex that worked for others with same
symptoms?

Without drugs, how long does it take for it to heal?

THANKS!

What side effects?  Sometimes you need to put up with side effects or
risk serious permanent damage to vision

Symptoms are not a diagnosis.  The same symtoms could be many different
things, possibly needing different treatments.

Depends on what the condition is.  If she has a corneal ulcer or iritis
she is risking permanent vision loss without treatment.

She should see her eye doctor ASAP  (ideally the one who treated her 3
years ago), remind him/her of the side effects and then ask the doctor
if any other treatment is possible.

Hello,
The problem she had 3 years ago was episcleritis.
And she had to apply tobrax which hurt quite a bit.

Are there safer, gentler eye drops for this condition?

THANKS!!

First of all, she needs to make sure she actually has episcleritis.
Episcleritis is a benign condition that will often clear eventually on
its own and can cause discomfort.  There are several other much more
serious conditions that resemble it; only her eye doctor can tell the
difference; the other conditions carry a risk of permanent vision loss.

If Tobradex hurt, it may have been the underlying condition that was
hurting not the drops.  Or it could have been the preservative in the
drops that caused the discomfort.  Most other drops will have the same
preservative but she can ask her doctor to prescribe a unit dose drop
which is preservative free.

She needs to see her eye doctor ASAP!!!!!!
