Press-On optics, ala OPTX, but *minus*...

There are a lot of people who prefer sunglasses in the $15 range
instead of $100+ -- but their eyes are a tad weak and suffer with
non-Rx sunglasses.  MINUS-power adhesive correction would be great for
us!
I have 20/15 in my right eye, corrected from 20/30.
In bright light, my left eye is 20/15 (corrected to not quite 20/20
elsewise).

So, if my left eye is weak in moderate or dim light, and my right eye
is only sharp after a significant but mild correction -- you know where
that gets me in a pair of shades?
$150.  Just for sports.  And you KNOW they'll get busted like anyone
else's sport shades.

It is bothersome that U.S. optical medicine pronounces ANY minus
correction as its own stomping ground, regardless of how many years the
correction has been stable.

This is KILLING me!
Does anyone else here see that an OTC correction of -.50 (stable for
the past 4 years in myself) is not asking much?  Can anyone recall any
such product on the market, or suggest help in this dilemma?

You can buy cheap prescription glasses on-line, with tint.

ya, I've shopped them.

When customizing even a mild Rx, things get complicated easily, tho.

Do to light insensitivity in the Left, I like to keep a light tint, and
make up the rest with polarization and a visor or hat.  Maybe it's just
me, but I really do like polarization.  Clouds, developing weather, and
other aerial things jump out much clearer for me.
Cheap, good, polarized shades can be had, but with Rx they instantly go
toward $100.

It can't be just me with this need for extra buyer flexibility.  For
that matter, why don't overseas Co's. see the potential for making
quick bucks?  I know OPTX are still sold, although Im unclear as to
whether any company still has them in production.  Maybe I shoulda
blasted this stuff off to 3M when they made em.

Does anybody know who, if anyone, still makes a Press-On reader, so I
can bug them directly?

Sounds like y ou are a tight a.ses bastard. Why don't you spend some
money and get some proper glasses and stop the whinging?

You are probably a Marine, really tough and likes to cry a lot at
spending a buck?????

Whoaaa SpazmanX,

just cuz this thread is a couple pages old doesn't mean I'm gonna let
you keep on hidin like you've been hinding all your life!

Ya, sure, I go to an optometrist to ensure I am not developing a
preventable eye diseases -- no Doh!

I'll be crystal clear in my meaning, for anyone who thinks I take my
posting as lightly as SpammanX:

It is entirely more convenient to modify a decent pair of sunglasses a
LITTLE,

than to modify a pair of expensive prescription glasses
substantially!!!

A minor add-on applied to sunglasses whose tint NO Rx shop seems able
to match,

would be sooo very much appreciated over my having to line a rich
dude's pockets for custom tinting, custom polarization, and
light-sealing styling -- in a Rx lens, no less -- even though the Rx is
certainly minor.

We import all manner of frilly nonsense!  Why can't I get a little
break if it lets me live with less eyestrain and lets a little light
into an over-protected guild?
