Hello

I've been interested in stereograms for a long time now, however I seek
some information:
- If they are good for the eyes
- The effect of viewing stereograms on the two brain hemispheres.
- Benefits for health of the eye between viewing in crossed-eye or
parallel-eye view and which is better
- Can they be used for therapeutic use?

References to backup your comments are highly appreciated.

Neither good nor bad.

No effect.  As far as the brain is concerned, viewing stereograms is no
different than viewing the world with both eyes open.

Use therapeutically only for certain binocular vision disorders.
Depending upon the particular disorder, convergence or divergence
stimulating stereograms will be used.

Dear Friend,

Since I was on the 'receiving end' of using
stereograms for "controling" intermittant strabismus,
I will and this commentary.

The training as support, and practice "fusing" was
excellent!  It is tedious, but if you learn how
to use them -- they are great.

In fact I can "fuse" two images (the same) when
placed side-by-side.  (Takes practice.)  This
is where "visual training" truly pays off -- you
learn "control".

Hello

I've been interested in stereograms for a long time now, however I seek

some information:

- If they are good for the eyes

Otis> For me, (with medical support) they were the
"right idea" at the time.

- The effect of viewing stereograms on the two brain hemispheres.

Otis> Difficult to say.  The person learns to "notice" when
an eye "drifts", and brings it under control himself.

- Benefits for health of the eye between viewing in crossed-eye or
parallel-eye view and which is better

Otis>  This depends totally on the person.  For myself it
was the "spur" to pay attention to my vision, and
control "fusion" myself.  The practice was
a great help.

- Can they be used for therapeutic use?

Otis>  They have been -- for the last 60 years.

References to backup your comments are highly appreciated.

Otis>  In the doctor's office -- and from my own experience.
