Floaters

When I woke up this morning I had some mild light flashes in my right
eye which I could detect since it was still dark.  Then I become
conscious of a rather huge floater in that eye.  It was a long thread -
never had anything like it before.  I had the urge to brush it away as
if it was a strand of hair.  I'm at work now.  It's still there but I'm
learning to ignore it.  I don't know if I'm getting any flashes since
it's quite bright here. Is this just a regular floater or should I see
a doctor?

Flashes with sudden onset floaters mean you should see an eye doctor ASAP--
leave work to do it.

Thanks for the advice.  I went to the doctor and all is well for now
but was advised to return if  there is any more activity.  I'm glad  I
went as I do feel relieved.

So have they gone away?

No, they're likely to be around for awhile.  Very annoying but you do
adapt to it somewhat.  Concern would be if it got worse.  I'm still
having little flashes of light which I can only detect if it's dark but
there has been no increase in floaters.
