With my recent prescription change, I'm going through the always tortuous
process of selecting new lenses and frames. It'll be single-vision with
good quality anti-reflective and anti-scratch, UV-resistant coatings
(Trivec, maybe?).
I've found what I guess some frame veterans call "P3" frames to look about
the best for my face. I'm thinking stainless steel or, if I'll able to get
myself to splurge, titanium. Relative lightness and good durability are my
goals. I've found the new Takumi 9630 very suitable except for the limited
colors of frame-copper, black and brown. I'm really looking for some
variation on gunmetal or, oddly, a pretty thin tortoise shell the
Eschenbachs noted below are a thin tortoise shell in titanium flexible).
In addition to the overall quality of Takumi, and value for cost (which has
emphasized to me by optical shops which do not even sell Takumi), most of
the Takumi line includes magnetic clip-on sunglass lenses, which is an
attraction, but not a deal-breaker.
In any event, Takumi does not now offer any other frames in P3 style (except
women's), so I'm exploring the competition. I'm told by friends that the
frames should preferably have been made in Europe or Japan, and should have
spring hinges or be a flexible titanium. For example, I've looked at a pair
of Eschenbach frames which are "licensed" but I can't tell from Eschenbach's
web site where the frames are actually manufactured.
What frame manufacturers should I shop that would offer a quality and price
similar to Takumi (the expensive Matsudas are out)?

I don't know anything about the Takumi's, but I've been using Safilo frames
for almost a decade (not the same pair, obviously), and have never had a
problem.
