Could someone tell me the exact reason why the Rigid Gas Permeable Lenses
should not be stored in normal solutions ?
it would be much easier to use normal saline  ...

I mean why it is not enough to use a solution
which kill all the "bugs" and keeps wet the RGP lenses ?
I noticed that the solution is more viscous. What's in it ?

Good question. I would like to know that, too.

I am afraid to use a solution for softlenses on RGPs. There could be
chemical softeners in the soft lens solutions which could make the RGP
material softer. That would destroy the RGP lenses.

Once I thought that a solution which cannot do harm to a soft lens will
never do harm to a hard lens. But today I think that it's the opposite.

You already give a part of the answer in your second question.

Saline solution is NOT a killer, only a rinsing solution.

An other question after someone stated you can use saline solution shall
come , read my lips.......

Here it is in advance: can I use home made saline solution because what
I bought in the shop was so terrible expensive.

Honestly, take the advise of your practitioner and use the solution he
or she recommended.

This is not the point: I would use a germicide solution
for cleaning/rinsing and a normal saline solution
not homemade (so it has germicide in it) for storage.
But I heard something about a loss of the wetting
capabilities of the lenses and loss of comfortable wearing too.
Anyway it is a shame: they make large containers you
have to fill up with incredibly expensive solution ...

Normal saline will not provide disinfection and bacteria/fungi may grow
on the lens and in the case overnight, leading to eye infections.

Additionallly, rigid lens soaking solutions condition the lens making
the material more hydrophillic and comfortable.  Some solutions also
have protein softeners in them, keeping the lens cleaner, more
comfortable, providing clearer vision and avoiding lid problems
associated with dirty lenses.

Next, you will complain about the high cost of soaking solution.
Sorry, I disagree.  A year's supply of rigid lens soaking solution
costs about $60 to $75 per year or about $0.30 a day.  If you can't
afford that, give up one store bought coffee every three days, or one
beer every two weeks or one movie night out every two months or
whatever it takes to afford your lens care solution.

I don't need nor want to save money on contact lenses
but I noticed that some of the chemicals in the solutions
irritated my eyes. peroxide is ok.
Anyway the 250 cl bottle (1/4 liter, mostly water) costs 16 euros
(80$/liter). this
is not cheap this is  profiting on smtgh one is forced to buy...
following your idea even a big diamond is cheap because
it lasts all life so everyday it's just 0.20 $  !

Than, discuss this with your contactlens fitter, he will seek for a
solution that fits you.

Peroxide is not a good storing solution when you are talking about RGP's.

I might think your professional has not recommend it.

Yes my contact lenses fitter suggested to
use saline instead of other liquids for rinsing .
Now I'm wondering if it's good to use smtgh else
for storage too but probably nly a chemist could tell ...
Peroxide it was just an idea never tried (once with soft lenses)

Did you discus the all in one solution Unique PH from ALCON with your
specialist?

Very often a real eye opener for RGP wearers.
