My contact lens optician noted to me that I have some protein
deposition and a rather less than helpful tear viscosity.

He suggests I try blinking more frequently.
I'll try this, but I wonder about closing my eyes every so often.

Are blinks more efficient than closed eye periods?

Blinking basically acts like "windshield wipers" on a car
removing debris from the tear film and replinishing the
tear film. So blinking (but it's very hard to teach people
to blink more) is more effective than just closing your
eyes. I recommend a good cl rewetting agent during
the day to help with your cl wear.
