Hi, I have tried quite a few contact lenses for astigmatism. B&L Softlens 66, Vertex Toric, Aspect Vision Care toric 55, CooperVision Preference Toric, CooperVision Frequency 55, and some no name that has serial number 924552508400 and BL121(3). My perscription is 0 spherical in both eyes, and -2.25 cylindrical in the left eye, -2.75 cylindrical in the right eye. All of these contact lenses with the exception of one (forgot which one but the lens is puckered out a lot at the pupil) simply rotate in my eye and focus rarely. The one that did work caused halos and edge glare due to a small optic zone. I have just ordered acuvue advance for astigmatism lenses for trial, has anyone had any experiance with them. Does anyone know any other lenses that I should try? From experience doctors really could care less once they take my money, I am now going to my second one. They blow away my astigmatism with no toric, so no rotation issues. I can't say whether your level of astigmatism would require toric RGP or not, I've heard different stories from different sources. I'd suggest seeking a doctor who specializes in contacts or RGP, since some docs know more than others in this area. I've got high minus plus about as much cylinder correction as you do. No soft lens I've ever tried has done an acceptable job for me. I was fitted for a set of RGPs earlier this year. I like the vision, but I didn't like the "break in"; I didn't enjoy that 20 years ago either, when I got my first set of RGPs. I have loads of cats and hobbies that produce fuzz, so I don't wear my contacts at home. +++++++++++++ Reply to the list as I do not publish an email address to USENET. It's more of a situation where the provider starts to run out of ideas after trying so many cl's and frustration from both sides emerge. For some patients there might be only one contact lens that might work. If the problem is due to rotation, trying a steeper base curve, such as the Hydrosoft toric (bc 8.3) or the Proclear tailor made toric (8.0 bc) may work for you. frank I currently wear Acuvue Advanced for Asthigmatism in one of my eyes but I dont know what my level of asthigmatism is. The lens is adequete for me but I do notice sometime that it is a little blurry possibly do to rotation. Hopefully you will get the results that you want.
