Recurrent erosion and contacts

Hi,
First, my question is,  Is it wise to wear "prescription" contacts
when you have recurrent erosion?
Now the history.  About 16 years ago I injured one of my eyes and got
that treated.  Then I started having pretty severe recurrent erosions.
The drops and such didn't help.  The opthamologist finally used a
procedure that actually stuck a needle in my eye to promote some scar
tissure and therefore anchoring the top layer down.  Well that didn't
work and he said to keep using the drops and ointments and in about 10
years it would probably be gone.  Well lo and behold my problem got
better and better and now it is once in a blue moon that I have the
problem and it is very minor.  (takes about 15 minutes for the pain to
stop).
My problem is that  I wear glasses and work outside alot in the oh so
humid south Texas and my glasses fog terribly and I can't see a thing.
I want to go to contacts but I am afraid.  Has anyone had any
experience with contact wearing and recurrent erosion?

Thanks,
lucy

I have frequently used a contact lens as a bandage in severe cases of
RCE.  Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply, I have read about people using contacts as a
patch.  I was just wondering if it would make my minor problem worse.
