Could my new prescription be wrong?

Old glasses I got in 1996:

Sphere / Cylinder / Axis
OD: -4.75  -0.75  015
OS: -5.25  -0.50  165

I recall adjusting to those instantly. They were perfect.

New glasses I just got:

Sphere / Cylinder / Axis
OD: -5.25  -0.75  012
OS: -5.50  -1.25  070

It's been a week, and they still don't feel right. My vision is very
crisp (no complaints at all with my viewing ability now), but
everything seems a bit intense. My stomach feels a little woozy at
times also.

My old glasses were big and my field of vision was good everywhere, but
my new ones are much smaller so I see quite a bit of blurriness outside
of the lens area now.... Could that be what takes getting used to?

I don't know if I should take them back now or wait longer. They are
from Lens Crafters, so I guess I have 30 days.... Would they charge for
another eye exam to double check the prescription?

Oops, that should read 170

Sphere / Cylinder / Axis
OD: -5.25  -0.75  012
OS: -5.50  -1.25  170

You probably have an aspheric design which can show some off-axis distortion
compared to non-aspheric designs.

Another possibility is that you have polycarbonate lenses. If that is true,
then take them back for a refund IMMEDIATELY and try a 1.60 or 1.67 plastic
in a high quality aspheric design. Polycarbonate lenses have the worst
optics of any commonly dispensed lens material and it exacerbates off-axis
distortion in higher power Rx such as you have.

I would check out the prices of Wal-Mart Optical before trying Lenscrafters
again. Most of the Lenscrafters sales people were selling clothes at another
store in the mall a month ago. Wal-mart optical likes to hire older people
with lots of optical experience. In any store, if you are not getting the
answers you want then ask for the head optician.

If a salesperson suggests a different lens, find out the lens manufacturer,
model, and lens index and then repost back here for recommendations.

Must be a different index and material your not used to. Dont get lasik
because of how picky you are and also due to unstable pescription.

Any prescription can be wrong but given that you've worn the same lens
for 10 years it's not surprising that something even a little different
feels odd. I'd give them another couple of weeks of full-time wear - but
definitely return if you still don't feel right by about three weeks.
The change in cylinder in the left eye is a likely culprit (that's if
you don't get used to them in the meantime).
