Trying Acuvue Advance Torics and having lots of on eye dryness within 4
hours.

Are there any Torics that won't dry out on the eye so fast?

Had been wearing Biomedic torics which also dry out after 6 hours.

right now there istn't, but o2optics torics are on the way, should be good.

you *are* rubbing the lens, both surfaces, to clean it after each use,
right, no matter what the no-rub claims are on the bottle???

Don't hold your breath for the Ciba product.  My latest call to them
(two weeks ago) said the USA product is "off the list" for the year.
They've been delaying the roll-out since Feb 05. But so what?  B&L
Purevision Toric is available, about to be so in expanded parameters
(plus and higher cyls) and works like a dream.

oops forgot about those.  I have a fitting set but on several R/L
comparison fittings the advance came out ahead in every case so I kind
of haven't been using them much.  Worth a try in this case for sure.

My eyes dry out in an hour or two with any contacts. You could buy some
eyedrops to insert in your eyes or just stick to glasses like I do

We all appreciate and anxiously look forward to your consistently
useless and uniformed comments on virtually every single query posted
here.

I gotta' tell you, Spaceman ... you may want to buy an old Aretha
Franklin album.  That's gonna' be your best shot at R-E-S-P-E-C-T,

"...stick to glasses like I do."

That's priceless.  Who'd have thought of that??

"Doc, it hurts when I do this."

"Then don't do that."

We're here all week, folks.  Don't forget to tip your bartenders....

Some people have tears that do not get along with silicone hydrogels.
You are likely one of them.

However, if Biomeds also dry out that quickly, the problem is with your
eyes and tears, not with the lens.  Discuss this with your fitter,
there may be a way to increase your wearing time to 8-10 hours, but not
likely to more.

Some  issues that may be underying the problem:
Solution sensitivity
Allergies
Medications
Medical problems
Lid problems
Idiopathic dry eye
Long hours reading or using computer

Say, Doc...

Since I'm awaiting a custom pair of Ciba's silicone hydrogels ... do
you have ANY sense of which types of patients "do not get along?" Have
you seen any particular patterns that might help you identify a group
more likely to have these issues?

TIA,
Neil
