Has anyone ever heard of visual disturbances (ie flashes, static, snow, floaters) coming from the use of anti-depressants? I was using Lexapro for 2 weeks and I suddenly got all of this. I went to a doc, neuro and a neuro-opth. Nothing. They said it could be a side effect of the Lex but I'm afraid it's only getting worse and not better. Has this ever happened to anyone? I should also note that I have since stopped the Lexparo. Kind of ... the last thing they need ... is a whole bunch of awful side effects to manage at the same time :-( The side effects of a med like this should unwind themselves pretty quickly. If not, make sure you let the prescribing physician know. All the best! Yeah. Like I said i've only been off of it for two weeks. Which I guess in reality means once since it takes 6-8 days to get out of your system fully. I was only taking it for two weeks anyway. I've been taking Lexapro for 6 months now (currently on 40 mg) and have had no problems. Presumably the neuro-ophthalmologist checked your retina through dilated pupils? Because your symptoms sound more like symptoms of vitreo-retinal problems (worst case: detached retina) than medication side effects. In my opinion the product information sheet doesn't really tell you anything specifically useful or worthwhile, and I'd suggest following this issue up rather than sitting back & relaxing (unless you're satisfied that you have already had a thorough dilated pupil retinal examination). Presumably both you and your physician read and understood the prescribing information before you started taking hte medication?
