Lasik with Astigmatism???

I am considering having Lasik surgery in the near future.  However,  I
wanted to know how bad was my eyesight.  I got a eye exam and the
results were as follows:

OD:  -225, -175, 015
OS:  -225, -100, 165

I am not familiar with this, and although the optalmologist explained
it, I was wondering if this prescription shows light, moderate, or
severe astigmatism.

I am asking this because I don't want to be fooled when going for Lasik
evaluation.  Some clinics jack the price up according to your
prescription. So, although they advertise $299 per eye, they end up
charging thousands...

Could someone tell me if my myopia/astigmatism is mild, moderate, or
severe (especially when it comes to having lasik surgery)?

Thx,
AB

Your script is well within lasik limits, forget the "299/eye" places,
they're mostly bait and switch. Find an experienced surgeon, continue
your research, you'll do fine.

Dear Friend,

Subject:  $299 for Lasik??

The average cost for Lasik is
APPROXIMATELY $4,000.

If a person will advertise a low
price, I doubt that you coud
TRUST that group for good Lasik.

But if you get it done for $299,
let us know how successful
you are with this $299, ASSUMING
of course that you can still read
your computer monitor AFTER
you have $299 Lasik.

Good luck,

Otis

you have mild myopia and mild astigmastim in one eye, mild to moderate
astigmastim in the other eye. Uncorrected vision estimated 20/150 in
better eye, 20/200 in worse eye. Near vision would be fair to good,
distance vision inadequate. Bad enough for lasik? Its your choice.
Whats your reasons and expectations?

You only have one pair of eyes to last  you a lifetime.  For God's sake,
don't look for the cheapest price!  Look for the best doctor.  You can judge
a doctor's expertise by the number of patients he has to redo a second time.
On a national average, that runs between 10-15% of  eyes done.  Our group has
a redo rate of  3%.  These numbers were compiled by Alcon, the company that
makes our lasers.

-$299/per eye will get you a general non-tracking laser - relying on the Dr's
expertise to shut it off if you look away.
-$1300-1400/per eye will get you a tracking laser - where there will be no
misfires due to fixation loss.  Generally, this 30%+ more accurate than the
Nidek.
These first two lasers are general lasers and anyone with the exact same
prescription will have the exact same treatment.
-Custom Wavefront is the new gold standard and will cost you more.  But, you
will have the most acurate possible prescription, customized for your eyes to
eliminate all possible aberrations.  This is another 30% more accurate than
the LADAR.

Is $600 too little?  Yes.  Is $3600 too much? Not!

The astigmatic add-on is an advertising gimmick because the procedure is the
same with or w/o astigmatism.

Find the best doc, PLEASE...not the bargain basement price.

Believe it or not, some people go cheap on their only pair of eyes.
They think all lasers are the same or that expensive lasers are gimmics
or just something they dont need. Others cant afford $2000+ an eye
lasik but want to "save" money on not needing new glasses contacts and
by getting $299, $499, etc per eye lasik. If you dont have money to do
things right, dont do it at all! I read of stories of high school
seniors or young college students getting discount lasik with their
little money they made working a summer job or a part time job.
