DMV EYE EXAM

I renewed my drivers license today. The eye exam machine had 5 lines
down and 12 characters across. All the characters were crystal clear
except the last 4 characters on each line. I had difficulty even seeing
the last 4 on each line. I am wondering if this was a problem with the
eye exam equipment. I had lasik surgery 5 years ago and my vision is
2030.

If the lighting on the equipment was different at the end of each line,
this could cause difficulty, especially someone with reduced contrast
senestivity. If you have failed, ask for a standard eye test with a
projector snellen chart. Most people find reading a snellen chart a
little easier than reading a vision screener, like the one used for
driving. The DMV is a pretty strict requirement and subjects need sharp
20/40 vision to pass. Those who cant pass can always take the bus or
ride with others

Sure thing, Ace.  Just tell that delivery truck driver, the one who
makes his sole living supporting his family by driving a truck, "Hey,
you can always take the bus or ride with others".

I didnt make the 20/40 law. He will need to ask his congressmen what to
do if his vision gets bad. Most people drive for fun or to get to work
so its simple as taking a bus or carpool

Most people just go to see their OD.  That's much quicker and more
effective.  Frankly, I'd just as soon not be driving around on roads
with a bunch of people who can't see what they are doing.

Life seems very simple to you, doesn't it?  It isn't so simple for many
other people.

Many people lose their jobs when they lose their driver's licenses.

It doesn't matter that Ace doesn't drive or has ever gone to the DMV.
He still has the answer.

I didn't know optometry was a prerequisite for becoming a politician.
No wonder the OD's are pissed. They're being forced out of public
service so they're barring optometrists from their meetings. Quid pro
quo.

PS: Hint to the Desk Chair expert--important stuff goes on beyond the 3
ft perimeter of your computer often involving a car.
