going to see an eye doctor tomorrow, but i thought i'd come here for
thoughts.

this past saturday i all of a sudden started experiencing double vision
in my right eye.  it felt like my eyeglasses were askew, but i realized
it wasn't so. i went to emergency, and nothing was found. they did a
CAT scan, ekg, took some blood, blood pressure.

here are the symptoms...
1...the double vision is in my right eye.
2...INDIVISUALLY, BOTH EYES ARE OK.
3...it FEELS like the right eye is taking some time to adjust.
4...when the right sees double, if i close that eye for 3 seconds or
so, alleviates the problem!!! it might come back after a while, but
closing thet eye alleviates the problem once again.
5...the right eye corrects itself well in enclosed areas, like my
apartment, etc, although in certain instances, if there is a quick
adjustment to be made, my right eye is  thrown off a bit, but it
remedies itself.  it has its biggest adjustment problem outside, in
unfamiliar circumstances,,,and with distance.
6...there seems to be a difference between day and night time as well.
at night, when i close my problem eye(right) for three seconds, it
corrects itself, and i am pretty good. DURING THE DAY, that doesn't
seem to work. it will correct for a few seconds and it will see double
again. my feeing is that all the detail during the day is making it
difficult for my right eye to adjust.
7...when i took a cab to emergency, the right eye seemed to be ok when
i looked in the distance. i think what was happening here was that the
inside of the taxi(window frame, back set etc) provided  objects for my
right eye to relate to, and this in turn helped the eye correlate the
distance outside. it's the same when i look outside at distance through
my apartment window.....it's ok.

again,,,each eye is ok. i do not see double out of the right eye when i
cover the left,,,it is only when they have to work together.
apparantly, with monocular double vision, the problem eye IS ALWAYS
seeing double, yes? this is not the case, in a sense. my right eye does
not see double on its own, and one adjusted in enclosed areas, it is
ok.

some history....i have been totaly stressed ou the past
month,,,[pylling all nighter and sleeping really odd hours, feeling
tired and sleepy and sometimes headachey. i have always, my whole life
had this thing where is i read or stare at something small for too
long, my right eye would gradually slip into a kind of "cross-eyed"
syndrome where the details double up, but that always righted itself no
problem

thanks

i should also mention that this happening almost instantaneously. i was
a asupermarket at 4am,,,left to walk home,,,everything was ok. as soon
as i approached a stoplight(about 40 yards, i glanced sideways(to the
right) to check for oncoming cars, and i saw double. my first thought
was that my right lens was askew. i kept adjusting my glasses. as i
walked down the street to my apartment, there was double in my right
eye.

so the whole thing started in a matter of a few minutes.
