I am interested in the hybrid contact lens coming out this spring. It
has a rigid (RGP) center and a soft (hydrogel) outer skirt. I believe
that the brand name is SynergEyes. Have any of the docs here heard
anything about the level of patient satisfaction in vision and comfort
as reported in the clinical trials?

The clinical data in the 510k summary may be of interest to you.  The trial
involved 107 patients over 3months, and 46 patients (43%) did not complete

Of those 46 dropouts, 15 were due to lack of comfort (14% of the total
patient group) and 13 through lack of interest . 6 patients dropped out for
poor vision

There is no information within the 510k summary to suggest what the patient
demographics were. Comfort seemed to be the biggest complaint, but this
diminished as the trial progressed. Maybe the lens just takes some getting
used to.

The 510k summary can be found at http://www.fda.gov/cdrh/pdf5/k051035.pdf
