I am interested in the hybrid contact lens coming out this spring. It
has a rigid (RGP) center and a soft (hydrogel) outer skirt. I believe
that the brand name is SynergEyes. Have any of the docs here heard
anything about the level of patient satisfaction in vision and comfort
as reported in the clinical trials?

Nothing new, working with such lenses for almost two decades.
And yes, a quit comfortable RGP which you have to exchange once a year.

Jan, you are wrong on this one. The old "Saturn lens" and its
replacement, the "Softperm" are the same concept as SynergEyes....but
that is the only way they are similar. The old Softperms had a
dreadfully low Dk and would stick to the patient's eyes like a suction
cup. They also fractured regularly at the junction between the soft
and rigid areas.
SynergEyes is a newly FDA approved hybrid with a high Dk and much
better performance. I have seen it on a few post-operated LASIK eyes
that have had great results..
Here's a look at the new company/new lens:

Don't think so, I am talking about lenses not available in the USA.
We have not the restrictions (FDA) as you have.

Jan,
I get the impression that the SynergEyes have been recently
developed. Do you have them in the Netherlands? And if so, when did
they appear in your country?
