Hi everyone,
I hope this isn't OT:
I am a medical translator, and in a text I'm translating from Spanish
to English there is a quotation (in Spanish) from British
ophthalmologist Sir Stewart Duke-Elder.
The original would be something like:
"Diabetes mellitus will constitute a great calamity for sight in the
Twentieth Century." (my translation)
However, it is considered bad form among translators to "re-invent" an
original quotation.
I would greatly appreciate any help finding the original statement, but
I'm afraid there is no possibillity of my acquiring any books etc. that
may contain it since I am in Paraguay and my deadline is not far off.
Thanks much,
Michael Burns

Respectfully, Doctor: he can't be *that* out of date, or Otis would be
citing him.
{man, I am irrePRESSible}
