Hi there,
Just wanted to share my experience with those considering LASIK. I went
for my final pre-LASIK exam where they verify all measurements a day
before surgery. I told my doc that I felt my eyes were a bit drier the
past few days and he did a Schermer (sp?) test and it came out to 1 (OK,
actually 0 but I think he was being generous). That put the breaks on
the whole thing. He did not encourage my going forward and frankly
strongly discouraged it. He did mentioned that "perhaps" I might
consider PRK in the future but not until he sees more tear production.
Considering I'm off all meds that would decrease production
(antihistamines) but might resume in the future, I think it's a lost
cause.
So just wanted to say that there are docs out there that are willing to
say no for the better of the patient.
Paula
P.S. Just an FY-'eye' (sorry), I can wear B&L's Purevision lenses for 10
or more hours and they feel good so I'll stick with those.

I'm glad to hear of your experience. There is nothing better than a
doctor who understands the limitations of the surgery.
