I have had severe myopia all my life but got byc, I drive play most
sports etc. Today after wearing lenses for more than 25yrs I am keen to
give up and am tempted to try the procedure Clear Lens Phako. I am
keen to hear from anyone that has had it or thought about having it,
the pros and cons from any experts etc

There is some risk of retinal detachment. The risks are probably the same as
when it is done for non-elective reasons, that is, for removal of a
cataract.

I'm a lay person and no expert, but I would never consider eye surgery
unless absolutely required. That's purely a personal preference, and
having said that, I've had the procedure done on both eyes.
My understanding is that this procedure is the same as that for cataract
surgery. I had cataract in both eyes, and needed this surgery to keep
from going blind.
I was severely myopic (-10 and -12 at the worst, both cataract induced,
although I was very myopic even as a child). It's really nice not
having to wear correction for distance.
The big factor here is your age and state of presbyopia. This surgery
will eliminate *all* ability to focus. That isn't a big factor for most
older people, since they have lost some or all of that ability due to
presbyopia. If you have any accommodation left, you might want to think
Real Seriously if you are willing to lose that.

Depends on what you mean by severe. Please post the most recent Rx and
your age. Ever had a full peripheral retinal exam (with 360 deg scleral
depression) or any retinal problems?
