For a while now my right eye has constantly felt like it has a foreign body
in it, it almost feels like I have a bit of dust or an eyelash in it and
I'm forever trying to blink it away..
I am myopic with an astigmatism in my right eye.
Strangley enough this sensation only occurs when I am not wearing my contact
lenses, when I do wear my lenses my eye feels fine.
I have seen my optician about this and she suggested hayfever and gave me
some drops but they didn't really work, and it is still happennig now, and
it is October!
Any ideas?
I have a few blood vessels (neo-vasculation) also.

The contact lens is obviously acting as a protective barrier.

Has your optician tried everting your upper eyelid to see what is
there?  Sometimes there are little calcium concretions that can form on
the conjunctiva in response to long-term mechanical irritation.  In
others, allergic papillae can form which create the feeling of sand or
sandpaper.

You might have an 'ingrown eyelash' poking your eye. The contact lens
would be protecting you when you wear it. It should be really easy for
your optician to detect using a slit lamp, if that's what the problem is.

Hayfever usually would be more of an ITCHY feeling, and in both eyes.
