Soflens66 toric vs. Accuvue Advance for Astigmatism??

Greetings.

I am trying CL's again after a few years away. I require a toric lens
w/ the following RX:

OD -3.50 x -.75 x 120
OS -4.00 x -.75 x 40

I tried Soflens66 Toric for a couple weeks. My vision was PERFECT!! As
good as glasses. I did notice the lens drying out towards the end of
the day.
This week I am trying the Accuvue Advance for Astigmatism in the same
RX. My inital impression is they *may* be a tiny bit more comfortable,
*BUT* they are still seeming to dry out a little. Also, could it be
that my vision was a LITTLE BETTER(??) in the Soflens66 toric?? I am
using the RENU soln w/ moistureloc.

Any thoughts or suggestions?? Could it be that I am just not used to
CL's since taking many years away from them?? GIve it more time? Any
feelings about my potential success in either one of these lenses...or
any others to try??

I have had patients who preferred the 66 over the Advance, but am unable
to pin down exactly why. Probably has to do with the lens construction,
curvatures, etc. The 66 is a workhorse of a lens in my practice. I go
with what works.

Thanks for the reply.
The more I wore the Accuvue Advance today the more I like the
Soflens66. It feels like the Advance may move around a bit more?? And
my vision seems more stable w/ the 66? Does that sound reasonable. My
eyes were pretty tired at the end of the day in both lens, but I
attribute that to wearing them full time for several days in a row.
What about the lens drying out...will that get better as I get used to
wearing CL's again? I really like going w/o glasses.

It could be as simple as the 66 being somewhat thicker, having somewhat
more prism, is more stable (rotates less with eye movement and
blinking), which would indeed make for more stable vision. As to drying
out, *theoretically* the Advance should be better. But there are other
forces working, I'm sure...

As with Dr. Stacy's practice, I have used the Soflens 66 toric of many
patients. I have also had success with the Biomedics 55 toric, which I
feel is one of the more stable torics. However, the Soflens has a thin
edge design, a larger diameter, and slightly more vault.

Now, I am going to the Acuvue Advance toric as the initial choice,
primarily because it is amazingly stable, and offers a much higher
Dk/t. I have found the vision to be somewhat variable between
patients, but that has been the case for virtually every contact lens,
and especially torics. I like the senefilcon (Oasys) material much
better, and wish that they had a toric version now.
