I had a pars-plana vitrectomy in the OD five days ago. This is not my first
such operation, the OS having been vitrectomized in 2003. (There were no
medical indications for this, but the doctor wanted to put an IOL in the
posterior chamber, and the vitreous was in the way.)
Sometimes I note shimmering in the peripheral field, though it is not
visible in the dark. This affected the other eye, too, and sometimes still
does, so it may be less noticeable over time, I suppose.
According to what I have found on the Web, it may result from bits of the
vitreous membrane that were not completely removed. In any case, I may
mention it to my doctor this afternoon, at my 3 pm appointment.

As long as you're not seeing it in the dark, it's probably nothing to
worry about. I assume you haven't yet had the IOL put in?
It should get less noticeable, and after the IOL you may not even see it
at all.
