I have galucoma in both eyes. Yesterday's pressures were 18/18 - very
good.
The doctor wants me to switch from Timolol to Istalol at my next
prescription refill, says it's better.
My copay for Timolol is $14 for 90 days. Istalol will be about $45,
since while it's covered it's not on my plan's (Medco) "preferred
list."
While I fortunately can afford this, does anyone have an opinion about
the matter?
Of course Ill check with the doc before deciding what to do.

Istalol is a once-a-day preparation of timolol, said to be "comparable" to
twice-a-day timolol.

If they're equally effective, most doctors consider once-a-day "better"
because it's easier to get compliance.
