Are you describing a visual field disturbance that obscured part of your
vision, the same no matter where you look? Not a "white spot" you could see
on your eye in the mirror, right?

Sudden rainbows are often due to corneal edema. You don't wear contacts,
right?

That's important because cortical problems would affect both eyes at the
same time.

Episodes of edema and transient visual field loss in one eye sounds like a
corneal problem. You didn't mention pain or redness so it might not be
infectious, but sterile infiltrates are rare in those who don't wear
contacts. You didn't say.
If a slit-lamp examination of your cornea is normal, it's important to
evaluate your pupils, optic nerve and visual field. The point of that is
your symptoms call for a doctor visit. A basic visit to an optometrist or
ophthalmologist will be $75-150 out of pocket, and your problem is billable
to major medical.

And this part sounds like a floater.
