Dry eyes in the rain

I've had dry eye for an esitmated 3-4 years. It came on very gradually
so it's hard to really pinpoint when the condition began. While
struggling to get the condition diagnosed, I kept a log of eye issues
including pain levels and environmental factors. One thing I noticed
was that my eyes always felt terrible on rainy days. No amount of OTC
eyedrops offered relief.

This seems counter-intuitive. I would think that the increased humidity
on rainy days would actually help.

I've been using Restasis for about 3 months and have experienced a
moderate level of improvement. However, today, in my corner of the
world, it is raining and my eyes feel terrible (very scratchy, as if
sand paper had been applied to the surface). I tried to soothe my eyes
with OTC eyedrops and they don't make a difference.

Any theories?

Since no one seems to have any theories, I thought I'd posit one.

I am prone to sinus headaches in rainy weather. These are caused by the
imbalance in barometric pressure. The pressure drops when it rains, but
the pressure in my sinuses takes longer to equalize and, as a result,
the sinuses actually expand. This expansion could be exerting pressure
on my eyes causes the tiny fissures caused by dry eye to further
expand. This could then be the source of the pain. Since the pain does
not magically disappear after the rain stops, this seems to be a
reasonable explanation.

Do any other dry eye sufferers have the same problem?

Sinus related problems have usually different symptoms from the
typical dry eye patient. Don't know exactly why you're having
problems exacerabated by humidity-  has your provider tried
punctal occlusion yet. That can work for many people.
