I currently have an IOL implant in my left eye, thus I've lost the
ability to focus up to 20 feet or so (my right eye has perfect
vision)...Would an acuvue bifocal contact lens in my left eye be a
possible way to correct this focal problem and thus eliminate the need
for reading glasses?

Thanks for the help. Sorry if this seems like a stupid question.

Not a stupid question.

Any bifocal lens, including the Acuvue bifocal, may be the ticket.
There are a number of new and improved bifocal contact lenses on the
market.

with this in mind, can I use my bifocal eyeglass prescription to get
bifocal contacts...or should I go to my doctor to get a contact lens
prescription?

Not sure how you get contacts without a prescription, and I wouldn't
recommend it.  There is more to it than what you think.  This is what
your eye doctor is trained to do.
