I went through Zyoptix surgery on 11th December 2004 in India.
Before undergoing the treatment my eyes were both of power -1.50. After one
week I had a checkup and my left eye was actually +4.50 power.
I got a checkup 7 weeks post-op and the power of this eye had improved to
+1.25 (360 degrees).
Today, 7 weeks later, I have had another checkup and the power is +1.0 (110
degrees).
All my checkups to date have been with various opticians but never the
clinic where the procedure was performed.
I will be visiting this clinic in about 3 weeks time and am seeking advice
on this forum before doing so.
I am wondering if it is worthwhile getting it redone (if that's what this
clinic advises) or if I should wait a few years - as I have just turned 22
years old.
Also, if my eyes stay as they are now - would it be safe for me not to wear
glasses as I can see ok or would this cause my good eye to deteriorate.
Thanks in advance for your responses.

The trend seems to be improving, and additional improvement is indeed
possible. I don't see a need for glasses at this point unless you are
having some headaches, trouble reading, or other issues. Sometimes,
people with one farsighted eye will actually experience blurred vision
out of the "good" eye because accommodation is yoked.

sounds like you've been overcorrected slightly. as DrG stated, its
probably OK for you to be a little hyperopic (plus prescription) at
your age since your accommodative system can probably pick up the
slack. the rub would be whether or not you are having any problems
doing prolonged near work (headaches, eyestrain, etc.). if not, then
you're OK (until you approach age 40).
i doubt that your refraction will decrease further since its been 4
months since your surgery.
there is no reason for anyone with your current refraction, at your
age, to get an enhancement unless they were having significant near
problems. the risk of doing damage >/= chance for improvement.

Thank you for your advice. I think I will ask them for a copy of my records
before leaving India for future reference. They will come in useful in the
future if I decide to get enhancement surgery.
