I think I recall that photos on some newsgroups are not allowed.

I was wondering if one were added as an attachment to a posting if it
would be ok?

I recently acquired a retina camera and occasionally see something I'd
like other docs to take a look at.

Any thoughts on doing this?  Should I try a test one?

I wasn't under the impression that you *could* post an image to s.m.v.

I say, "Fire away!"

Dear Dr. Stacy,

If you can't post on sci.med.vision, you could
send as an email attachement -- for
people who are interested.

Best,

Otis

My understanding...

This is a non-binary newsgroup. ie, it's not say alt.binary.whatever for
example.

As such this is a text only newsgroup, no binary attachments, graphics,
pictures, music or programs are allowed.

While it is possible to post, some people can take a dim view, and it
can be against your internet providers terms and conditions or
acceptable use policy.

The best thing to do, is to place it on some webspace somewhere, and
provide a link to it on the newsgroup. That way, it'll also get indexed
in Google easier for future generations!

That sounds familiar.  Something to do with bandwidth.  I wonder if it's
as big a deal as it used to be what with the monster storage available
these days. I guess I'll try putting them on my web site and creating
links.

Good idea.  Some newsfeeds strip off all attachments and don't offer the
.binaries groups.  There are a number of free web hosting sites, but some of
them claim the right to use any photo posted there as they see fit, which
sounds unsavory.

I'm all for it. Some servers disallow attachments, so we see attachments
here from some users and not others.
