Computer monitor - lighting

Hi.  I work all day on a computer.  I've recently removed the light strips
above my head, as I find it more comfortable to work when it's a bit darker.
The rest of the office is fairly adequately lit, but it is quite a bit
darker around my desk.  Is this very bad for my eyes?  Or does it not really
make much difference?

Thanks for any advice,
Regards,
Dan.

Not that bad for your eyes. As long as you feel comfortable and can see
everything you need to (i.e. paperwork as well as the computer) is the
main thing. Many people have the brightness of their monitor turned up
too bright - try turning the brightness down a bit... it will seem too
dim at first but you'll soon get used to it. Also, it's generally best
if you're looking slightly down to the monitor rather than looking up at
it. And take breaks, look away as often as you can.

I've actually just put the light strip back in.  My eyes were starting to
get a bit sore, which didn't happen when I had the light on.

Thanks for the reply.

Dan.

mee, too... there is one way that I find myself, maybe useful... I went
to buy a sunglasses panel to fit on them, the monitors... much
better...
