Hi all,
I'm a little concerned about my eyes recently. This past week my eyes have
felt extremely strained to the point of not wanting to look at anything.
(feel like just closing my eyes) Looking upwards is real bad and of course
looking at the TV or computer has been terrible. It starts first thing in
the morning and continues throughout the day/night, although it can stop for
awhile (a couple of hrs) then it comes back. I have no blurred vision but
when driving or walking through a store my eyes are straining and get
watery.
I am nearsighted and have Astigmatism in one eye and do wear glasses. I
started wearing clip on sunglasses in the house this past week so the eyes
wouldn't feel so strained. I also feel like my nose and surrounding area
feels clogged and my eyes started burning this weekend as well as being
watery. What is going on? I really don't think it's computer eye syndrome
and I don't know if allergies cause eye straining?

Have you considered allergy? I (and my daughter) need benadryl for a
few days at a clip during the winter months due to the amt of dust
that gets trapped in the home during the winter months.

If you continue with your very bad use of your eyes and with those
bad practices (like glasses, sun glasses, not blinking, not resting
your eyes) be prepared to a worsening of your situation and be
prepared to a big group groping in the dark together with the so
called "professionals".
Strongly consider the methods of the natural eyes to restore normal
sight. Usually the other symptoms will fade away as well.
The point is that you lack of central fixation.

Discard the glasses, learn to look at the sun.
Your problems will soon wither away.

P.S. Jinxy: of course, DON'T look at the sun (as another poster suggested).

Follow the wrong advice that has brought to you here, and continue.
You will be cured quickly, isn't it?

Why should one not GRADUALLY LEARN to look at the sun ?
Please explain.
The fact is that in learning to look at the sun your eyes get
accustomed to strong light and become stronger. In this
way they will strain less in other circumstances too, because
it is impossible to look at the sun and strain at the same
time, is the worst unfavorable condition and if you have
the mental control over your central fixation to look at the
sun, you can see everything without straining to see.

There are quite a few possibilities for the cause of your symptoms. It
sounds like the kind of thing better diagnosed by someone looking at your
eyes rather than a description over a newsgroup. It may be conjunctivitis,
allergies, dry eye, eye strain, or something else - all of which require
different management. I'd make an appointment to get it checked properly.

If it is worse in dusty, poor air quality places like malls and your nose
and sinus area is affected then you are either coming down with a cold or
you have allergies. This time of year molds are in the air as the snow
melts and some trees (willow, birch, poplar families) are starting to bloom.
