Hello,
I want to order lacrimal probe for my experiment on amimal tissues. On
the catalog they have different sizes, such as
size 00/0
size 0000/000
size 1/2
size 3/4
size 5/6
size 7/8
I have no idea what they mean and what is the difference for these
different sizes. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Sizes relate to the diameter of the probes (smaller the number, the
smaller
the diameter bore)- my guess it's that they are in .mm sizes (ie 1/2
means
.1mm on one end and .2 mm on the other end of the shaft). My probes
just state the numbers 1/2, 3/4 but I do guess it is in .mm
designation.

These are the common Bowman probe sizes. Most used is the #00/#0 and #1/#2
sizes. They are not millimeters. 1/2 refers to having a Bowman #1 on one
end, and a Bowman #2 size on the other end. On infants, the 00 is most
commonly used.
I do not know how they wer derived, just that is the common practice.
