My doctor wants to put me in progressive lens. I have been using
readers for awhile, but now my distance is starting to go, also. (BTW,
I'm 44) My job uses lots of dangerous power equipment, so I need to
have good transition between near and far. I've been doing some
research and reading on the difficulties of adjusting to progressive.
I'm afraid that I will be one of those few that connot adjust. I'm
also one of those people that cannot play video games (especially FPS
type, Doom, etc.); I get VIOLENTLY ILL!
Here's my prescription: +125-025x90 +100-025x90 /+200
The doc is recommending Zeiss Gradal Top, but the price has me blown
away (~$290). It's either this or dealing with the on/off/on/off with
a pair of readers hanging around my neck. Before I take the leap, I
thought I would put this out and see what advice any of you (more
informed) people might have.

I'd advise buying them at one of those satisfaction guaranteed places, and
that way if you don't like them, you get your money back.

Rick,
With the information provided above I would recommend that you stay with the
readers and get driving/distance glasses only if necessary (night driving,
headaches/strain). Motivation and functionality levels are low with the
violently ill part a big strike against success.
The number "+2.00" is the add for reading and is unusually strong for a 44 year
old. It wouldn't hurt to question your doctor about this. Pick up a pair of
"over the counter readers" with a number +3.50. Are you comfortable with how
close you have to hold the book or magazine for the clearest vision? If not,
show your doctor the distance you are comfortable with for normal reading and
for your work.
Hope this helps
