Can someone have ocular albinism and also
have a normal VEP? I recently had a VEP test for
albinism done which was normal. It did not show
the misrouting of retinal fibers of the optic
nerve. Also a previous ERG showed normal results.
The signs I have for ocular albinism are blonde
fundus, slight iris transillumination, no foveal
reflex and nystagmus. The nystagmus recordings showed jerk
nystagmus. My visual aciuty is between 20/30 to 20/40

Sure.

The potentials recorded in VEP depend on normal conduction velocities along
the axons and thru the brainstem nuclei. Ocular albinism doesn't always
disturb the optic nerve pathways in so gross a manner as to affect the VEP..

Which it should.

That's a pretty typical description for ocular albinism, regardless of the
VEP. Iris transillumination nails it down, particularly if you're young.
