Hello all,

I recently left a nearly full bottle of contact lens MPS in the trunk of my
car overnight and the temperature was fairly cold.  It was probably less
than zero degrees celsius out...  I know the precautions say to store
between 15 and 25 C, but do you think its still safe to use the stuff?  Now
that it has warmed back up and all?

Seems like a waste of money to just dump the stuff, but I'd rather play it
safe.  Hopefully someone can set my mind at ease..

Thanks.

It's probably fine. Getting too hot is much more likely to cause problems
than getting too cold.

The freezing temperature of saline is about -17 C, but even if it froze, it
isn't likely to alter the stuff chemically, the way high temps would.

Agreed.

Well, sorta.  The last parcel of freeze-refined saline
_might_ freeze that cold, but ice crystals will appear
in isotonic saline much earlier, -0.3'C .  The big worry
with chilling/freezing solutions is that some important
compound precipitate out and not redissolve.
