Well, I now realize why I didn't see it. I was looking for it in re-wetting
drops. I just looked at the B&L web site, and see that it is indeed a
multipurpose solution. I never look at those solutions. It might have been
there, or might not.
In any case, as I said, multi-purpose solutions are in any case not a good
way to go, from everything I've read, including from eye doctors on this
board. One solution cannot do everything right. They cannot make it very
strong in cleaning, because then it would hurt your eyes. No such solution
would be as comfortable as plain saline solution to put in your eyes,
because the chemicals put in for cleaning and disinfection are bound to make
it less comfortable. A trade-off there. The more comfortable it is, it
probably does not clean as well. Probably OK for soaking, but most docs
recommend the hydrogen peroxide type solution for soaking and disinfection,
like AOSept or ClearCare. Better to have separate solutions, as one cannot
possibly do everything well.
With that moistureloc name, I thought it was for rewetting, with some
chemical to keep the eyes and lenses moist longer, for those of us with dry
eyes. I guess that still might be the purpose, since as a mps you probably
take it right out of the case soaking in the stuff, and put in your eye, or
put more of the solution on first. Still, with cleaning chemicals in the
solution as well, it couldn't be too comfortable. In any case, you'd be
better off to use separate solutions.
If it really is some new technology for keeping lenses moist longer for
people with dry eye problems, and not just some marketing gimmick, I wonder
if B&L will incorporate it soon into re-wetting drops?
