Hi there,
studying the effects of lasers on surgery, I found that one of the
most dangerous events that can happen is the carbonization of the
tissue under treatment, that leads to heavy energy absorption and
consequently to a high temperature that damages the organ.
I would like to know if this risk is present also in lasik surgery,
any pointer is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your attention.

No. The extremely short wavelength and high energy of the excimer laser
cleaves the carbon-carbon bonds without appreciable heat.
