Hi,
I had an adeno virus infection to both my eyes. Now I have scar tissue on my
cornea, causing both loss of eyesight and pain (everytime I wink my eye).
According to the hospital, these problems should go away eventually, but I
have had these problems for 4 months, without any improvement.
I'm looking for people that (1) had an adeno virus infection, and/or (2)
have scar tissue on their cornea as a result of this adeno virus infection.
I'm curious about other people's experiences. If you have information,
please share. I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,
Greetings,

Dag Stefan,
Consult your ophthalmologist again.
There exists a treatment with topical stero?ds witch is indicated only if
the eyes are uncomfortable and the vision acuity is lesser than usual caused
by adenoviral keratitis.
Stero?ds do not shorten the natural healing process but they suppress the
corneal inflammation.
Your ophthalmologist should decide if treatment with stero?ds sounds.
In your country stero?ds are used very carefully.

Adenovirus can cause corneal lesions that sometimes take months to heal.
Topical corticosteroids can alleviate the pain and loss of vision, although
lesions sometimes return. Corticosteroids are justified under certain
conditions, where pain and loss of vision are present. Scars are probably
not an appropriate term, as they tend to disappear once the infection is
gone. The term infiltrate is probably more appropriate.

Hi, my name is Kayleigh, I caught the adeno virus when I was eight and have
scar tissue in both of my eyes. The virus came back about a year ago (I am
now fifteen) and I am still having trouble (pain and watering in both my eyes.
) The hospital says that there is nothing that I can do except for wait for
the scars to heal. Having my eyes constantly water is becoming unbearable,
have you found anything that helps?
Thanks,
Kayleigh
