The AR coating on my 2yr old lenses is totally shot and the coating on
the frames is even beginning to come off...so, I'm in the market now for
new frames/lenses.
I've been trying to do as much reading through the group archives and web
sites as possible and have a couple quick questions.
My current prescription is -3.25 -2.50x170 and -3.50 -3.50x009
I'm wanting to get frames using the half-rim style (bottom side rimless)
and am not sure if my lens requirements will agree with this style
frame (haven't spoken with optometrist yet). Any possible conflicts here?
From what I've been reading, going with an Atoric lens is preferable with
my level of astig. I'd appreciate any further explanation of what I
should/shouldn't look for in a lens when dealing with my level of astig.
I'm wanting an AR coating again and have found quite a bit of info
regarding varying quality of coatings. From what I've read, something
from Crizal, Sola, or Zies would be very acceptable. Regarding Crizal,
I've seen the Crizal Alize mentioned as a new improved version but can't
find much more beyond that brief explanation. How is the Pentax coating?
Any other comments on this?
As for lens materials, my current lenses are 1.66 (don't know make) and
the thickness is acceptable for me. Thinner would be great but not if it
means sacrificing some other critical attribute...or means spending a LOT
more money.
Sola Vizio 1.66, Sieko Super SV, and Sola Finished, Hoya EYRY seem to get
many high marks from the various sources I've read. It appears though
that the Super SV is available *only* with the Sola UTMC AR coating. True?
If so, how does this compare with the Crizal (Alize) AR?

Crizal Alize is supposedly easier to clean than most AR coatings.
