Low Cylinder Torics?

I am currently using standard daily disposable lenses (occasional use only),
but have a fairly mild astigmatism, Cyl -0.50.  To compensate, I was
prescribed lenses -0.25 more minus sphere than my glasses prescription.
This is fine for sports and driving etc, but reading a newspaper is slightly
uncomfortable.  Looking online, most toric lenses seem to start at -0.75
Cyl, with many starting at -1.00 Cyl, which is no good to me :)  Does anyone
know of a soft contact with a Cyl of -0.50 that I could discuss with my
optician?  Dont want to have to go there only to be told they dont even
exist :)

Thanks.

A number of manufacturers will make a custom lens in any cyl power or
axis you desire. It will be pricey and likely not worth the optical
improvement.  You might want to instead try an aspheric optical
design---there are about a half dozen of them and most are far less
costly (and easier to get a good fit) than torics.

Thanks for the suggestion, am I likely to notice a significant improvement
over none aspheric lenses?

Perhaps significant, maybe a little and sometimes not at all. Depends in
part upon pupil size and location of astigmatism axis. Worth the try.

Hopefully you read Dr. Mike T. suggest of SunSoft Toric, a good choice
for going for the dead-on exact optics experience. The lens requires
careful fitting; not difficult, just careful.

I have taken a quick look online, and all the UK suppliers who carried
sunsoft torics only seem to go up to -0.75 .

Sunsoft Multiples come in -0.50 cylinder. They come as a set of four, for
three-month replacement. I think Ocular Sciences owns Sunsoft now.

Cheers, I'll take a look :)

FWIW, I have mild astigmatism (0.50) in my left eye and was getting a
ghost image in that eye with the Acuvue 2 lences I was using. I am now
trying the Cooper Frequency 55 Ashpheric in both eyes and the ghosting
is gone. From what I have learned so far, the Aspherics available are:
Cooper Frequency 55 Aspheric
Ciba Choice A.B.
Ciba Focus Dailies 9
Ciba Focus Night&Day

The Dailies and Night&Day are not advertized as aspheric, but Ciba has
confirmed to me that they are.

Yes, they do. I was working at Sunsoft when they got bought by Ocular
Sciences, and got laid off when they phased out the Sunsoft IT
department because it was redundant.
