Jayne - 19 Oct 2007 20:54 GMT I hadn't mentioned before, but I had to come off my Enbrel for a while, due to knee op. Their standard advice is to give up two weeks before and if all is okay, re-start two weeks after.
I was okay until I'd missed my 3rd dose, and then things began to hurt a little. This was a week after my op. By 4th missed dose my shoulders and elbows were hurting a fair bit, but I thought I'd be okay once I restarted.
In the same way that it took 3 weeks off the drug for things to start to hurt, it took 3 weeks after I restarted for things to gradually ease off. I've still got a few sore spots, eg shoulders, but they are all getting better. I do my 4th dose tomorrow, so I'm hoping happier days are ahead.
How do others get by without their dmard? They let me keep taking the methotrexate - the only thing I had to give up was the Enbrel.

sweetpickleNO@SPAMknology.net - 20 Oct 2007 01:55 GMT Jayne, sure hope the Enbrel starts working very quickly and you can feel at least part way comfortable again. Gwen

As soon as I had done it, it seemed wrong, as if the syringe was only half full. At first I thought I'd leaked half of it somehow, but when I checked the syringe and packaging I realised that they had sent me the wrong dosage - it was the 25mg prefilled instead of the 50mg.
So, as I've only just started back on the Enbrel and need it quite a bit, I did a second injection and phoned Healthcare at Home today about it. It took about 5 times with them phoning me back and asking for Lot numbers and expiry dates etc, and at first they were insisting that that lot number was allocated to 50mg. Anyway it turns out that they have cocked up somehow and have somehow sent out 25mg instead (it looks like their records are a bit to be desired too).
Anyway, now that they believe me (!) they are sending me the correct stuff and asked if they can pick up the remaining two injections to go back to them. I had to laugh though - they said I should not have injected it as it was the wrong thing - firstly I'd done one before I realised it was wrong (blame tiredness) and secondly, I gave myself another as even I can work out that 25 plus 25 = 50!
Had anyone else had a delivery recently of what is supposed to be 50mg prefilled injections?
Cheers

The paperwork said 50mg. I think it was a picking error, and they have held their hands up and are sending me a delivery of 50mg on Thursday, so whichever way, I'm not losing out at all. They will pick up the remaining 25mg injections when they deliver.
This is the first time I've had a problem in 5 years, and in general, Healthcare at Home (who handle the distribution for Wyeth in the UK) have been very good. They deliver every 4 weeks to my work, and the driver will leave the parcel with a colleague if I am not there, but they do insist that they see the colleague put it straight in the fridge!
So, I will have the right ones for Saturday's injection.

sweetpickleNO@SPAMknology.net - 24 Oct 2007 22:25 GMT Jayne, it hasn't hurt as bad as I thought it might. I've only taken two pain pills at night. I'm just careful how I bend and twist at the waist. I don't think I'll need to go back to doctor at all. Gwen

Usually the diclofen I take makes it bearable, but recently I have had some colon trouble and have had to halve the diclofen to one every other day. On the days I don't take it I can get pretty stiff and painful and if I try to go without it for three days I really suffer.

sweetpickleNO@SPAMknology.net - 27 Oct 2007 19:59 GMT Jayne, I'm hurting again. My dog (11 lbs) decided she wanted to lie down on me yesterday morning, and she stepped right on my rib. It hurt all day so I took a pain pill last night and slept very well. However, it still hurts today; I hope it won't last long or I will go back to the doctor, though I don't know what he can do! I expect your little dog was just trying to comfort you (only a little too exuberantly!).
I hope the pain is gone for you soon.

I'm still not quite back to where I was before I had to stop the Enbrel. I've been back on it for 4 weeks now, so I'm sure it can't be long.
I get the odd ache and pain when the stuff is working, but nothing like what I am like without it.

Yep. I think your normal level of remission, in terms of pain, is probably greater than mine. My blood figures are very good, but that doesn't measure pain.
Good luck
Peter
