aiui, it's one of the standard dmards.
i used it early on: it didn't do much for me (they kept increasing the
does until my bloods showed problems, then moved me on to i forget
which). i did, however, have masses of mouth ulcers.
i believe it does the job for quite a lot of people, just i'm not one
of them. (i seem pretty stable now on azathioprine.)

Nearly all of the older people with inflam.arth. have taken Methx because it
was the second drug used to try to control RA. Gold was the first after
massive steroids.
Do you take Methx? Do you have inflam.arth(over 170 different kinds)?

I have taken it for PA for the last 6 or more years and it's been OK
for me.
I started on just MTX and it went up to 17.5mg orally, which gave me
all kinds of troublesome side-effects like dry eyes, nausea and
lethargy. Since then they have changed me to a combination of MTX and
Arava (Lefleunomide) and this is much better as I can take a much
smaller dose of each and this keeps any side effects to a minimum.
It's been controlling the PA really well since then.

I take 17.5mg weekly as well as enbrel. You are supposed to take folic
acid supplement if you take MTX.
It can make you feel nauseous and give you headaches.
