Okay, it's been a while. Let's start roll call and see how many people
we can lure out of the bushes long enough to check in. No lengthy
posts needed simply post "HERE!" so we know you're still out there.
Not sure if this will work, but we'll give it a try and see how it
goes.
I'll go first ;)

I'm new but I'm here too.:-)
I'm 39 (very close to 40) and have been diagnosed, by my GP, with rheumatoid
arthritis. My feet, hands, wrists and shoulders (mainly my left one) are all
affected. I'll ask questions etc in another post in a day or two when I've
got some time. :-)
Hello all.

A bit late, but I'm still here! Been away for Christmas, and now that the
kids' computer is up and running (although not very fast wireless connection
yet) it gives me a fighting chance at this one!

about
Houston, I've never been there-:)

cambridge alternates between depressing (cloud cover) and delightful
(sun out) this time of year.
my rather limited experience of houston was rather oppressive, with
high temperatures and extremely high humidity. all my hosts seemed
not to imagine anyone would want to be out doors, so one ran[*] from
air-conditioned car to air-conditioned office (or house or hotel) and
then back to the car again for next little trip.
[*] i could run in those days. i was there for some business purpose,
details of which escape me -- my firm had a partner outfit there, but
i'm blowed if i can remember what that meant for me.

When I stayed with a friend in Houston I asked if there was anywhere I could
walk to - the look of sheer horror on her face had to be seen to be
believed. "Honey, if you walk here, the police will almost certainly stop
you". And it was the same in Phoenix. I walked up the road to the pharmacy
and a woman offered to give me a list back as "I've never seen anyone
walking before"
