Hellooooo....ooo...ooo

Is anyone still here?  I have been guilty of neglecting newsgroups a lot
lately, but I thought I'd post about the new 50mg, once a week Enbrel.

I've noticed no change, and its been 7 weeks now.  There's no change in the
way I feel - I take it on a Saturday, the same day as my 12.5mg mtx (which
the hospital recommended I did), and its working fine.

The only drawback I've found so far is in mixing.  The 50mg dose seems to me
to be far more prone to frothing and needs to be handled carefully.

Hope you're all as well as you can be.

Jayne.

I am also on the 50 mg and haven't noticed any change. I agree with
frothing. As I mentioned a few weeks ago, after mixing the enbrel, if
you hold the loaded syringe upright you can see very small air bubbles
very slowly rising to the top. If you inject before these are
completely expelled you will be injecting air and that is not good.
I have had to reinject myself on one occasion because I noticed froth
in the syringe when I had the needle in and was injecting the enbrel.
This is obviously something which needs to be brought to the attention
of Wyeth. I think the proper way to do this would be via the RD or
specialist nurse.

Best to all you silent people.

I mix mine in the vial, then leave it an hour or so until I draw it into the
syringe, by which time the froth has subsided a lot.  As far as air is
concerned, I'm not worried about a few air bubbles as it isn't intravenous.
The nurse who taught me and my arthritis nurse have both said not to worry
about the odd air bubble - it is just under the skin and not into a vein.

Ah yes, but don't you ever hit a small vein by accident ?

Sometimes I nick one, and when I mentioned it they still said don't worry.
Apparently you have to inject quite a bit into a main vein to do damage.

I didn't notice any difference.  I'm on 17.5mg MTX . I asked my RD
about when to take the MTX and she said it didn't matter so carried on
the same .
I was a bit below the norm for white and red cells in my  previous
blood test , but the test last week showed they'd gone up.

Alison, have you had those abnormal results since the weekly doses?
Keep well everyone

I didn't ask, they just told me I was getting them. The delivery is
still every month:(
but they take up less room in the fridge.

yes but its happened before , it's to do with the MTX . I need to
make sure I take enough folic acid.
Alison:)
